Terms of Service
Effective 21 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Ata Tan Dagidir ("we"), the developer of ting, covering your use of the ting website at ting.fidelioware.com and the ting mobile app. By creating an account or using ting, you accept them.
The service
ting helps you learn Chinese by playing short clips of publicly available YouTube videos with Chinese and English subtitles, word lookups and a vocabulary review system. We may change, add or remove features at any time, and we do not guarantee that the service will always be available or free of errors.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old, or older where your country's law requires it, to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity on your account.
- You can delete your account at any time under Profile → Settings → Delete account.
YouTube content
Videos in ting are played through YouTube's official embedded player and remain the property of their owners. ting does not host, download or modify them. By using ting you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and YouTube's handling of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. Subtitles and translations come from the videos' publishers. If you own content shown in ting and want it removed, email us and we will remove it.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse ting: do not try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service, scrape it, or use it to infringe anyone's rights. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
Our content
The ting app, its design and its software belong to us. Dictionary data is from CC-CEDICT, used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence.
Disclaimer and liability
ting is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use ting after a change means you accept it. You may stop using ting at any time. We may discontinue the service, and will give reasonable notice in the app if we do.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. This does not take away protections you have under the mandatory law of the country where you live.
